Native to the Peruvian central Andes, Maca (Lepidium meyenii) has been used from pre Incan times for both nutritional and medicinal purposes. Organic black maca powder is made by drying the black maca roots at low temperatures and then finely grinding them into a powder. This process helps preserve the nutritional integrity of the maca root, ensuring that it retains its high levels of vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds.
There are over 20 different fatty acids, 19 amino acids and many minerals: calcium, potassium, manganese, copper, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium and others found in traces. There are also vitamins C, vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6 and carotenes found in maca.
